Countries with local Zika transmission

Areas with recent local transmission of Zika virus are reported below. According to the last reported case by national or regional health authorities, countries and territories are categorized as being affected in the:

• Past two months, and therefore assumed to have current active transmission of the virus
• Past nine months, to aid diagnosis for returning travellers, especially pregnant women.

Furthermore, countries reporting cases in the past two months can be described as either: experiencing increasing or widespread transmission; or reporting sporadic transmission following recent introduction of the virus.
